A Year of Adventure

It is only the end of October and I feel like I have accomplished more this year than years past.  That also has led to not getting things done as quickly as I would like, lol!!!

This is going to be an exciting year in Book Club and we have an extraordinary line up of books for all of us to read and enjoy.

Our first meeting was the launch of learning new technology and our first book to read.  I loved meeting everyone and I am excited to get to know each one of you as we walk along our journey together this year.  My hope and prayer is that this year will bring us new friendships with a sense of community and that within our books we will learn about things that will help us to see Jesus in our lives a little clearer.

Our next book club meeting is Thursday, November 21st. We will meet in Blackboard Classroom and I will send the link the day before.  Hope everyone can join in for our discussions.

I will be posting questions in here each week for everyone to respond to.  The student who posts and comments the most will win a $10.00 Chapters Gift Card. The challenge will be to not only post your own answers, but to comment on the other student's posts.  I will take into account frequency of posting and also quality of posts and comments.

The first questions to answer are:
1) What is your most favourite book that you have ever read and what makes it your favourite?
2) What is your favourite character in Tale of Despereaux and why?  Please answer each question in a complete sentence and include 2 or more sentences.

I will be posting in here every few days, so keep checking back in and see more to chat about:)!  Till Next Time!!!!!

Mrs. Mc:)

  1. 1) What is your most favourite book that you have ever read and what makes it your favourite? My favourite book I have ever read is a book called Oryus by Craig Gordon. It is a book written by a colleague of mine that tells the story of a young man who goes on an a fantastic journey in a medieval kingdom. What I liked most about it was how the author brought so many things into the story that shared the love of Jesus. It was an amazing book. I have ready it three times.
    2) What is your favourite character in Tale of Despereaux and why?
My favorite character in Tales of Despereaux is Despereaux as I love his forgiving heart and how he fights for what is right.

    1. 1) My favorite book is Ronia the Robber's Daughter by Astrid Lingren. It is about Ronia, a little robber's daughter. When she is older, she befriends Birk, the son of her father's greatest enemy, it causes her father to get mad at her. She and Birk end up running away! At the end of the story, her father accepted her frienship with Birk, so they could go home again.
The thing that makes it my favorite is that there are robbers in it and that it is so exciting.
I have read this book once, and I will read it during our trip to Fort St. James.
      2) In The Tale of Despaurx, my favorite character was Despaurx, because he is different from all of the other characters, and he was smart like at the time when he taught himself to read. - Naomi

    1) My favourite book is The Secret Tree by Natalie Standiford. This book has an interesting story and is full of mysteries. It is about a girl who finds secrets in a tree and tries to uncover the mystery of who wrote them.

    2) My favourite character from the Tale of Despereaux is the main character Despereaux. I really like animals (especially rodents) and I like the fact that he is adventurous so his character is interesting and appeals to me. I like that he is an animal that has human characteristics because it makes him seem real.

  15. I am doing this again, I did it once and it did not show up maybe this time it will.

My favourite book is a series actually. It is the series The Mysterious Benedict Society, it is written by Trenton Lee Stewart. I have read first three books and am just about to read the forth. I have not started it as I was ready Desperaux which I like very much. The Mysterious Benedict Society is about these four children. They all have very strong abilities and they are all different that is what make them such a great team. In the stories they go on adventures and solve riddles and mysteries. I love riddles, action and mystery.

My favourite character in Desperaux is Mig. She is my favourite because she never gives up hope that she will be a princess one day. No matter how many time people tell her that it will never happen and nobody cares about her she is still will still hope and believe.

  16. My favourite book is Magic Ponies by Sue Bentley.

This is an awesome book and if you have a passion for horses then you would probably think that it is a awesome book too! The thing that makes it a good book is this idea that there are magic ponies that live in a secret land, who appear once in awhile to little girls that can help solve a mystery.

My favourite character in Despereux is Despereux because he is brave, and he doesn't give up- even for the rats.

  17. My favourite book is The Chronicles of Narnia: Last Battle.

This book is an adventure book about five kids: Peter Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie, Lucy Pevensie, Eustace Scrubb, and Jill Pole. The reason it's my favourite would be because it is very adventurous book and it is the last book of the series: The Chronicles of Narnia.

My favourite character in The Tale of Despereaux would be Despereaux, because he is kind and in some ways, smarter that the other mice.
